“Yech!”

That was the response of one of the relatively more adventurous diners to the lamb shanks that I braised yesterday and that we ate tonight. Other people seem not to welcome a deviation from boneless, skinless chicken breasts or ground beef as readily as I do. Let them eat gruel.

  • You cooked, and someone had the nerve to say yech to you! Shame on them! I bet it was delicious :)

  • Next time (should you invite this person to the table again...) Make him or her one of those 'kiddie cuisine' t.v. dinners with animal shaped chicken nuggets and mac n' cheese. Serve him or her milk in a sippy cup, while the rest of you enjoy a fine wine. Oh, and if that's not demeaning enough, whip up a chocolate mousse for the rest of your guests (with chocolate from Hugos), but serve the child some Oreos and a Jell-o pudding cup.

  • If you like variety in your meats, you'd like Fogo de Chao - fifteen different cuts of meat, all you can eat, with salad bar.

It's painfully expensive, but so freaking good.

I wish more people were willing to experiment with their cooking, instead of sticking to the ground beef/chicken rotation.

  • I'm one of those people: poor little lamb...I can't eat cute animals...except for pigs.

    mmmmmmm...bacon.

  • I feel about lamb chops like Homer feels about bacon. Mmmmmmm. Only problem with lamb is that it has to be eaten hot--even at lukewarm it gets greasy.
